2. General notes on data processing#
This website processes personal data sparingly and only as required for its technical operation. No analytics or tracking tools, no advertising networks and no third-party social media plugins are used. Loading these pages does not establish connections to third-party services — with one exception: links to external offerings (e.g. Mastodon) are only activated when you click them.
3. Hosting and server log files#
The site runs on our own server infrastructure in Germany. When you access the site, the server automatically collects and stores the following data (server log files):
- IP address of the requesting device
- date and time of access
- requested page/file and volume of data transferred
- browser type, operating system and referrer URL (user agent)
Processing is based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website). The log files serve technical availability, security and attack prevention and are deleted regularly (after a few days at the latest). They are not merged with other data sources.
4. Cookies and local storage#
This website sets no cookies and no analytics pixels. The colour scheme (light/dark) is stored exclusively locally in your browser (localStorage); you can use this feature without any data being transmitted. No consent banner is therefore necessary — there is nothing to consent to.
5. External fonts and libraries#
All fonts, styles and scripts are served from this domain itself. No fonts (e.g. Google Fonts) or libraries from third parties are embedded.
6. Microblog (Mastodon content)#
On the microblog page, content from my public Mastodon account is displayed. This content is fetched server-side when the site is built or updated from mastodon.social and then served as static content from this domain — including the images contained in it. Your browser does not establish a connection to mastodon.social or any other third party while you read the page; in particular, your IP address and usage data are not transmitted to Mastodon. Only when you actively click a link to a Mastodon post do you leave this website; the target provider’s privacy policy then applies.
7. Photo gallery#
The photo albums run on a subdomain (photos.timbuening.de) on the same infrastructure; the statements of this privacy policy apply there accordingly. A separate imprint and privacy policy are published there.
8. Storage period#
Unless a shorter storage period is specified in this policy, personal data is stored only as long as necessary for the stated purpose or as required by statutory retention obligations.
9. Your rights#
At any time you have the right to free information about your stored personal data (Art. 15 GDPR), as well as the right to rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing (Art. 21). Simply send an e-mail to hello@timbuening.de to exercise these rights.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia.
10. Data security#
The site is transmitted encrypted via TLS/SSL. Despite careful security measures, complete protection against attacks cannot be technically guaranteed.
11. Changes#
This privacy policy may be adapted when the website changes. The currently published version applies.
