Brief & starting point
#

After 30 years, SV Musterhausen wanted to move away from their dated club crest: more modern, fit for digital use, but with a visible connection to the club’s history. Constraints: keep the red and white club colours, keep the crest motif recognisable, and the logo has to work from jersey to letterhead.

Process
#

First sketches were done on paper, then as vector drafts in Illustrator. Two directions were presented to the board:

After the feedback, the chosen direction was refined: proportions, level of detail at small sizes, colour values and a complete construction grid.

Result

Final logo including application examples

The new identity covers logo, colours, typography and applications — documented in a style guide for the board and members.

Conclusion & learnings
#

Aligning with the board early avoided a costly change of direction. Key insight: even on small budgets, testing the logo in real applications (jersey, social media, patches) pays off.
